TIMES MALANG, SUMEDANG – As I entered the gates of State Kindergarten Pembina to attend an invitation to be a storyteller, the sun was shining beautifully. Despite the bright sunshine, the weather in Sumedang is always cooler than in the five other cities surrounding this well-known as Tofu City.
Sumedang is located in the center of West Java Province and is surrounded by four interesting mountains to visit: Mount Tampomas, Mount Kerenceng, Mount Manglayang, and Mount Kareumbi.
Mount Tampomas is the highest mountain in Sumedang, at 1,684 meters above sea level, and is an icon of the area. Mount Kerenceng is known for its triangular peak and is often referred to as a hidden gem of West Java.
Mount Manglayang is also popular among climbers, and Mount Kareumbi offers beautiful views and interesting hiking trails. State Kindergarten Pembina is located in a cool area, with clear mountain views.
State Kindergarten Pembina of Sumedang was established in 2003, staffed by a principal and two teachers, along with students drawn from the surrounding community. Carrying out the district government's mandate in education, particularly early childhood education, which forms the foundation for a child's future character, is no easy feat. Furthermore, family education and parenting styles will determine a child's future.
Over time, with the addition of more teachers and the growing trust of the surrounding community, the kindergarten strives to improve its quality to provide the best possible education for young children.
The student enrollment chart has been steadily rising, and since 2019, public interest in enrolling their children in public kindergartens has been growing. During the pandemic, the number of children enrolled in public kindergartens stagnated, but after the pandemic passed, the student enrollment chart has begun to climb.
In 2014, the kindergarten has been leading by Mrs. Hj. Dian Nurmayanti, S.Pd., M.Pd. The effort to improve the quality of education is carried out with extraordinary enthusiasm, reflected in the numerous achievements of the kindergarten students, teachers, and especially Mrs. Hj. Dian, the principal. Every step is dedicated to the best interests of the kindergarten, as it is a mandate to be the best.
The development of the surrounding area is increasingly rapid, and the location of the government center is becoming closer to this State Kindergarten Pembina.

The students have been achieving numerous achievements, both at the sub-district, district, provincial, and national levels. In the 2025-2026 academic year, 135 children are interested in attending the kindergarten, which has consistently won prizes in various fields. The new student enrollment quota closed in early June.
Story Telling about children in Palestine touched the children's feelings, even one child said that there were many missiles surrounding their friends in Palestine, especially the Gaza region, destroying schools and people's homes and children in Gaza could not go to school.
The strains of the song Atuna Fitouli accompanied the togetherness of 135 children with their Principal, Mrs. Hj Dian Nurmayanti, S.Pd., M.Pd. (45), senior teacher Siti Fatimah, S.Pd.AUD (43), ended the event that day with the reading of the Al Humazah surah by one of the students who was able to invite all his new friends to pray. (*)
