TIMES MALANG, JAKARTA – Enjoying the natural view of beautiful stalactites and stalagmites in a cave will always be one way to admire the beauty of what the nature has given. Including the beauty of Goa Gong or Gong Cave of Pacitan. This place will mesmerize your eyes with its stunning view.

With its beauty this place has managed to steal lots of tourists' attention either from the domestic or foreign tourists. This place has always been so crowd during the weekend. It will be better for you to visit this place during weekdays to avoid the crowd.

It's because there much more than meets the eyes. The stalactites and stalagmites could produce a sound like percussion with different tones. It has attracted some researchers to do a deeper research about this phenomenon.

Spring Water at Goa Gong

This cave was found in 1924 by Mbah Joyo and Mbah Noyo a local community which live nearby. They roam around this 256 meters and long  cave and found some spring water. There are around 5 spring water found in the 20 to 30 meters height and 15 to 40 meters wide cave.

The local name this spring waters as Sendang Jampi Rogo, Panguripan, Relung Jiwo, Kamulyan and Relung Nisto.  Back then these spring water was believed to have their own charm. Some believe that one of them could bring you an eternity youth just by washing your with the water.

There is also a dome like in the center of this place. The ceiling was approximately around 100 meters height. This will surely give you a new point of view about a cave that it will not always be creepy and scary.

Exotic Stalagmite and Stalactite as Percussion

The management has installed colorful lights around the stalagmites to make the atmosphere more beautiful. You will not find a creepy cave but more to a sophisticated place with thousand of dancing dimming light.

They also put some slow music in the cave to elevate the atmosphere. The light will dim as the music flow. It's not to loud but managed to calm the atmosphere inside the cave. 

Little did you know, the stalagmites could also produce some nice sound of percussion like. Back then people could knock on the stalagmites and try each of the sound it produces. As for now, the management forbid everyone to do so for the sake of the conservation.

The name of Goa Gong was also derived from this thing. Gong in the local language means as huge metal drum which produce percussion like sound. As for the ticket it very much affordable. You will only need to pay for IDR 10 K to IDR 20 K. (*)
